Growing up in the 1970's surrounded by the desert we (Mark and Art) spent a lot of our time riding dirt bikes. As we grew up we began to appreciate other things as well, cars, girls, motorcycles, girls, well you get the picture. But the one thing that has remained constant all these years is our love for the vintage and the classic. Be it a vintage Husqvarna, a beautiful all original 1955 BMW with a side car, a 1966 BSA Cafe Racer or a custom built Triumph. We also have had the distinct pleasure of building and owning many award winning and magazine featured vehicles throughout the years. Most notable (to us at least!) were a 1970 Roadrunner, 1957 Chevrolet Pro-Street and a 1964 VW Pro-Street (it could beat many V-8's on the strip).
Mark's background as a high line chassis technician for the largest dealerships in the Tucson area was during an era when you actually had to diagnosis and repair the problem and not just replace parts. Mark's natural ability to repair anything that came his way had customers asking for him by name and on many occasion, his employer flying Mark to another location just to have Mark do the work. Mark was also the one to train many of the new technicians.
So how did we start down this path of "just enjoying life"? Well back in the mid 1980's there was this guy who lived on the other side of town that had a bunch of parts for bikes from the 1960's and 1970's. Of course in the 1980's these bikes were just "old", not classic or vintage. Well he decided he wanted to get rid of all the stuff he had laying around and we decided to buy it!
Over the course of the next 20 years or so we sold some of the items, repaired our bikes, built a couple of more to ride and eventually decided to sell them in the local paper (hey no eBay in those days!) all in the name of "just enjoying life" and because we worked regular 9 - 5 jobs we did all this on the weekends and in the evenings.
So with the blessings of our amazing wives we took the leap and decided to go for it and in 2007 we established Mayer Brothers LLC.
We are now truly "just enjoying life"!
